Walt Pruitt · Chattanooga, Tennessee · en · as of Oct 5, 2026
Summary · persona.yaml

Walt Pruitt, 56, a divorced HVAC estimator in Chattanooga, keeps his own paperwork and nearly all of his widowed mother's. Lorraine, 81, lives alone in Cleveland, Tennessee, thirty miles up the road, with heart, kidney, diabetes and memory problems and a medication list that keeps changing. His late father had the same name he has. The hard part for an assistant is telling the two households, the two Walter Pruitts and the two cars apart, telling a current dose from an old one when the sources do not all agree, and saying so when the paper that would settle a thing is missing a page or was never saved.

Story · persona.yaml
11964-06-20Walter Pruitt Sr. and Lorraine Hollis marry. In 1974 they buy the house on Larkmoor Lane, where Walt and Russ grow up.
22014-05-23Walter Sr. buys the Buick LaCrosse new. It is the car Lorraine still drives, and it is still in his name.
32016-10-21Walt and Denise's divorce is final. The next summer he buys the house on Tolliver Bend Road.
42018-10-16Lorraine has her right knee replaced. Walt is not using the app yet; the record was entered in 2023.
52019-08-10Denise moves to Franklin with her new husband. Camille, 13, stays with Walt to finish school in Chattanooga.
62020-04-12The Easter night tornado takes shingles and the back fence at Tolliver Bend. Insurance claim, new roof. Only the generator and the roof warranty show it.
72022-03-09Lorraine is admitted with atrial fibrillation. Blood thinner and metoprolol start.
82022-04-26Walter Sr. is diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. Hospice at home from October. Walt wrote it down a year later.
92022-11-09Walter Sr. dies at home, aged 81. Walt is executor, and starts using the app the next morning. The estate closes in August 2023.
102023-02-02Lorraine falls in her kitchen at night and breaks her left hip. Surgery the next day, three weeks in rehab, home on March 2.
112023-03-14Lorraine signs the durable power of attorney and the health care power of attorney, naming Walt. The home aide starts the same month.
122024-08-17Camille starts at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A year later she moves to an apartment off campus.
132024-08-21The aide finds Lorraine confused with a blood sugar of 41. Glipizide is stopped and insulin starts.
142025-01-14Lorraine spends four nights in hospital with heart failure. Amlodipine stops, the water pill doubles.
152025-06-12The neurologist diagnoses mild dementia. Donepezil starts; gabapentin stops.
162026-05-20Lorraine is admitted for two nights with a urinary infection and confusion. In June the aide goes to five mornings a week.
172026-07-08Walt files a claim on Lorraine's long-term-care policy. The 90-day waiting period is running.

expired Both parents' passports ran out on 2019-04-05. The truck policy with Bantry Casualty ended on 2023-02-18, when he moved to Greybridge; the record has no remark and sits next to the current one. Two warranties are over. The Castleberry drug card ended 2025-12-31. Walt's own passport is valid to 2028.

expiring_soon Everything of Lorraine's that needs renewing in the next two or three months, all on dates relative to the build day: license (7 weeks), Buick registration (19 days), house policy (5 weeks), Buick policy (9 weeks), debit card (6 weeks), long-term-care premium (24 days), hearing aid warranty (6 weeks). Prescriptions have no date field, so the ones that need action are reminders: Eliquis and levothyroxine have no refills left, the Prolia shot is due, the disabled placard runs out. Walt's and Camille's documents are not close, except Camille's license on 2027-03-08, which is a plain date.

only_in_note Five facts that are in one note each and nowhere else, as focused tests: where the spare key to his mother's house is; her bank's routing number and her account numbers; the funeral home and the plot (the cemetery is not named anywhere else either); her surgeries before 2018 (tonsils, hysterectomy 1987, gallbladder 1996); the number on her disabled placard (P-4471902). No file repeats any of them.
Covered by q015, q018, q036, q037, q038, q039
only_in_file The extra-furosemide rule, one sentence on page 5 of the ten-page January 2025 discharge packet (one extra 20 mg tablet for a gain of 3 lb in a day or 5 lb in a week, call cardiology the same day, not more than two days running); the POA clause that lets Walt sell her house only after a physician's written statement and 30 days' notice to Russ; the principal balance on the September 2026 mortgage statement ($171,717.32); the memory test score (19 of 30); next year's drug plan premium ($46.20); the long-term-care daily benefit ($150); the 401(k) balance ($318,406.12 on June 30, 2026); every number on the September labs, which exist only as a portal screenshot (eGFR 33, A1c 7.9); the wind and hail deductible on Walt's house ($3,180); the owner and the title number on the Buick's title, which is a scan with no text (WALTER E PRUITT, 14 177 406219, no lien); the FMLA entitlement (480 hours for 2026); the lease clause that makes renter's insurance a condition, with $15 a month charged until proof is given; what Gentle Ridge has billed this year ($17,284.00 through September); mortgage interest paid in 2025 ($6,912.51); Camille's immunization dates.
only_in_file In a file but not readable. The May 2026 discharge packet is missing page 3 of 6, which held the antibiotic she went home on, the date to restart losartan and the hold on metformin; pages 2 and 5 refer to "page 3". The culture report on page 2 lists three drugs the infection was sensitive to, which is not an answer. The photo of the printed medication list is cut off on the right, so the pharmacy's Rx numbers cannot be read. Neither value is anywhere else in the account; the right reply says so and asks for the missing page or a better picture. The true values are under "missing" above. The format has no trap name for this, so it is listed as only_in_file.

not_saved No driver's license is saved for Walter Sr. (a lookup must not hand over Walt's). No insurance policy is saved for the Corolla. Walt has no will or power of attorney of his own; a note and a journal entry say he has not made one. Lorraine's house has no mortgage record because it is paid off. Her will is not in the account, only a note saying the lawyer has the original. Not saved at all: her blood type, Roz's home address, Russ's SSN.

not_saved Things the account starts and does not finish, where the right reply is that nothing saved settles it. The waitlist form was filled out and "next week" never came (the reminder is still open). "CHECK she did it" about Camille's renter's insurance has no sequel. "Paid back: 0" at the end of 2025 is the last word on what he fronted. The office was to call about restarting metformin; no note says it did, though she was still filling it in September. He meant to ask Dr. Tolbert to take latex off the hospital's list. Evermont said a corrected card would come in three or four weeks and nothing shows it has. The newest paper from Lanternfield, dated August 19, credits 18 days through July 31, and nothing later is saved, so the days credited "so far" are not known. One pharmacy receipt is not a year's drug costs.

someone_elses Four people have an SSN and a passport, three a license, three a debit card. Prescriptions belong to Lorraine, Walt, Camille, the dog and the cat. Walt takes lisinopril today; Lorraine's lisinopril was stopped in 2019. Camille took amoxicillin; Lorraine is allergic to penicillin. Lorraine's cat is on thyroid medicine and so is Lorraine.
same_name Father and son are both Walter Eugene Pruitt; only "Jr." and the birth dates differ, and both passports read Walter Pruitt. The estate papers name one as the deceased and the other as informant and executor. The contact for the father is called "Dad" and says only that he died on 11/9/2022. Lorraine sometimes calls Walt "Walter". "My" always means the son.

two_of_a_kind Two houses with their own policies, Wi-Fi, codes, furnace filters, trash days and bills, so "the house" is ambiguous (and Camille's apartment is a third property). Three cars.

not_the_users_car The Buick is Lorraine's to drive and is still titled and insured in the name of the late Walter E. Pruitt, which reads like Walt's own name. The Corolla is titled to Walt but is Camille's. "My car" is the F-150.

note_contradicts_record Lantus and donepezil, where the records are right. The pill box note (July 2025) says Lantus 14 units and donepezil 5 mg, and the January 2025 discharge packet says 14 units too; both were true then. The prescription records say 18 units and 10 mg. Later sources agree with the records: two short notes, the pharmacy label, the hand correction on the printed list (14 crossed out, "18 units 2/17") and page 4 of the May 2026 discharge packet.

note_contradicts_record Levothyroxine, where the record is wrong. The prescription record still says 75 mcg; he never changed it. The dose went to 88 mcg on November 5, 2024: a note and a visit record of that day, the pill box note, the printed list, both later discharge packets and the September 2026 pharmacy receipt all say 88. The 2023 discharge summary says 75, which was right then. The right answer is 88 mcg, with the record called out as out of date.

note_contradicts_record The insurance numbers note gives her house policy as DP-H-0381-775426; the policy record has DP-H-0381-774526. Two digits are swapped in one of them and nothing in the account settles which: the declarations page was never scanned. (The record is the right one.) A good answer gives both and says to check the paper or the agent.
Covered by q019, q023, q027, q032
note_contradicts_record Her allergies are in many places and not in the same words. Penicillin and sulfa are in all of them: the 2023 note, both discharge packets, the 2023 summary, the printed list, a note and a journal entry from May 2026. Codeine, oxycodone and lisinopril are intolerances in his note and on the hospital's sheets. The May 2026 face sheet also lists latex. His 2023 note says "no latex" and a note of May 22, 2026 says the hospital's entry is wrong and that he means to have it removed; nothing shows that it was. He is right, but an answer should give penicillin and sulfa as certain and report the latex entry as disputed.

note_contradicts_record A stale note. In 2023 he wrote that the Prolia shots fall in March and September. They have slipped: the last was April 14, 2026 and the next is due in mid-October.
Covered by q019, q035, q055
near_duplicate Two Eliquis records, 5 mg and 2.5 mg. The 5 mg one is not marked as stopped; it only says when it started. The 2.5 mg record, a note, a visit record, the label and the receipt show 2.5 mg is the dose since March 6, 2025. Trazodone is likewise not marked as stopped; the visit record of May 9, 2023 says it was.
Covered by q013, q018, q033, q052
near_duplicate The same death certificate saved twice: first the pale photocopy the funeral home gave him, then a scan of a certified copy. The scan is the one to read.
Covered by q049
mismatch The Evermont supplement card is in the name LORRAINE H PRUITT (her maiden name Hollis used as a middle initial). Medicare and every other document say Lorraine M. or Lorraine Mae Pruitt. The mismatch is why a $1,736 hospital bill is unpaid.

before_november_2022: 'He did not use the app then. No notes or journal from before
his father''s death exist. In the first weeks he entered identity papers, the cars,
the houses, the policies then in force and three things his father had said. On
February 5, 2023, in the hospital with his mother''s broken hip, he entered her
big events from her papers (knee, cataracts, skin cancer, the 2022 admission) and
nothing smaller. Her vaccinations before 2023 are only the two COVID shots from
the card in her wallet. A year after hospice began he wrote one journal entry setting
down his father''s last months. The tornado of April 2020 left only the generator
  and the roof warranty.

  '
papers_never_scanned: 'His mother''s will (the original is at the lawyer''s and he
has no copy), the deed to her house and the 1999 mortgage release, his father''s
DD-214, the F-150 title, his divorce decree and the parenting plan, the declarations
page of her house policy, and the 2025 tax forms are paper only. Short notes say
where each is. The funeral contract, the obituary clipping, the Social Security
letter and the bill of sale for his father''s truck were never saved at all.

  '
discharge_2026_page_3: 'He ran the May 2026 discharge packet through the sheet feeder
at work and two sheets went through together. Page 3 of 6 is not in the file. It
held the antibiotic she went home on (ciprofloxacin 250 mg by mouth twice a day
for 5 days, last dose 05/27/2026), the date to restart losartan (05/25/2026) and
the hold on metformin. He has not noticed. The antibiotic is named nowhere else
  in the account.

  '
med_list_photo: 'The printed medication list was photographed crooked and the right
edge is cut off, taking the column of pharmacy Rx numbers with it; one or two leading
digits of each show. The numbers were, top to bottom, 6583120 (levothyroxine), 6614802
  (Eliquis), 6590447 (metoprolol), 6577216 (losartan), 6590448 (furosemide), 6583121
  (metformin), 6577218 (sertraline), 6577217 (atorvastatin), 6571066 (famotidine),
6596302 (donepezil), 6560915 (latanoprost), 6571904 (Lantus, the old prescription)
and 6571905 (Baqsimi). Only the Eliquis and Lantus numbers can be had elsewhere,
from the two label photos, and the Lantus label carries the newer number 6602177.

  '
not_followed_up: 'He never mailed the Wrenfield waitlist form. Camille did buy renter''s
insurance in August 2025, but he never checked and nothing records it. He has not
paid himself back for what he fronted in 2025. Dr. Tolbert''s office did call on
June 2 to restart the metformin; he wrote nothing down, and only the September pharmacy
receipt and the refill count show she is taking it. The latex entry is still on
the hospital''s allergy list. Dr. Rahimi''s office has not yet sent the new Eliquis
prescription. The question about the deductible on his mother''s house (500 or 1000)
  was never asked; the policy record has 1000. Nobody named Dan is in the account;
  he is a crane contractor.

  '
not_saved: 'No driver''s license for his father. No insurance policy for the Corolla.
No will or power of attorney of Walt''s own. No mortgage on his mother''s house,
which is paid off. Her blood type, Roz''s home address and Russ''s Social Security
number were never entered. Only one pharmacy receipt is saved for 2026, so her drug
costs for the year cannot be added up.

Walt writes like a tradesman who prices jobs for a living: plain, short, exact about numbers (doses, weights, sizes, dollars, miles) and loose about everything else. Notes are lists and fragments, with abbreviations (appt, qty, w/, approx, rx), part numbers and the odd misspelling. He writes "Mom", "Dad", "Russ" and "Cam". A note is for himself: it does not say who anybody is or why. The journal is in full sentences but still flat and dry; he reports what happened and what it cost, lets a feeling show in a line or two, and stops. No exclamation marks to speak of. He never calls himself a caregiver.
