What it says

Hospice started a year ago today. I didn't write any of it down then and I'm losing the order, so here it is. April 26, the oncologist, in a room with a poster of a waterfall. Stage four. Both lungs, his liver, a spot on his spine. He asked her if he could still mow. One round of chemo in May. He was sick nine days and said that's enough of that. Father's Day we fished off the bank below the dam because he couldn't get in and out of the boat. Four crappie and a turtle. By September he was down to 140 and worried about Mom, not himself. He said she'd tell me she was fine and I wasn't to believe it. Hospice October 3rd. The bed went in the den facing the window. Russ came the 28th and left the 3rd. The last clear afternoon was the Sunday, the 6th. He died that Wednesday night.
