No extras and no change orders. - PAINT, walls: Benjamin Moore Guilford Green, HC-116, in the kitchen finish. Trim: Simply White, OC-117. Nate's painter left a labelled quart of each under the sink. - Counters: quartz. Hot pans NOT directly on it, per Nate, whatever the brochure says. - Floor: vinyl plank. Damp mop only. - The window over the sink is four feet wide. I can see the island, the loons' end of the lake and most of the dock. - The dishwasher must be drained and left open at closing; it is on Ray's list now. - The range is propane and lights itself. - The breaker panel is unchanged and still in the hall closet; the kitchen now has four circuits of its own, labelled. - Nate's work is guaranteed for a year, to May 2019. Where things are: plates left of the sink, glasses right, pots in the deep drawers under the range, the lefse griddle in the tall cupboard by the back door, which was built to fit it. |

Green steel roof to match. - FLOOR FINISH: Cabot Australian Timber Oil, the colour called Natural. One coat now; again next June, and every second year after. Nate left the half can in the boathouse. - Posts, rails and the screen frames are stained to match the cabin's siding: Sikkens, Butternut. - Four outlets, on their own breaker, labelled PORCH in the panel. |

What it is now: - 12 x 16 feet on the old slab. Insulated walls and ceiling. Pine paneling, tongue and groove, finished clear (a water-based satin, two coats; Nate left a quart). - FOUR BUNKS built into the two long walls, an upper and a lower on each side, like berths. Each takes an ordinary twin mattress, 38 x 75. Each has a rail, a shelf and its own reading light. - Two windows: one beside the door and one on the lake side, which was Samir's idea. - An electric wall heater with its own thermostat, on its own breaker, labelled BUNKHOUSE in the cabin panel. It is for cool nights in May and September, not for winter. - Four outlets. A ceiling light. No plumbing; it is forty feet to the cabin's bathroom, and Ray has put a sensor light on the path. - The door is steel, painted red: Benjamin Moore Caliente, AF-290. It locks with a keypad; every grandchild is to be given the code. Ray's inspection: he asked for one more screw in each bunk rail and got it. Bought for it: four mattresses, four sets of sheets (blue, green, red, gold), pads, pillows. Still wanted: four quilts. Two tops are done. |
