What it says

For Ray, August 1 to 21, while I am in Portland. Taped to the refrigerator; a copy here. 1. Meals: there are 14 suppers in the chest freezer, labelled with the day. The other seven nights are the Nordic Table (once), Marlene's (she has asked for Thursdays), and your own devices. 2. Pills: the box is filled for three weeks. Refills are not due until September. 3. Birdie: 1 1/2 cups at 7 and at 5. Her chewable is due the 1st; it is on the windowsill. 4. Tomatoes: water every second evening unless it has rained. Pick the Sungolds or they split. 5. The roofers (Thornapple) come Wednesday the 18th and need about three days. Move both cars to the street the night before. They will want the garage outlet. Brett Yoder is the man in charge; his number is on the contract, on the kitchen desk. 6. Trash and recycling to the curb Wednesday night. Not Thursday morning; they come at 6. 7. Sunday calls are yours while I am gone: Ellen at 6:30, David at 7, Kate at 8, which is where I will be, so you may skip that one. 8. The 20th. I know. I will telephone at 7 their time. Sigrid is in the refrigerator and can be ignored for three weeks. Do not feed her.
