Directions to the cabin, as I give them on the telephone. The map on a telephone sends people to the wrong side of the lake. From Madison: north on US-51, about three and a half hours, to Minocqua. Gas in Portage or Tomahawk; there is nothing between Tomahawk and Minocqua but trees. At the lights in Minocqua by the bridge, go WEST on Highway 70. Set the odometer. - 6.2 miles: turn RIGHT on Tamarack Fork Road. (Lahti & Sons' shop is on this road, on the left, a green pole building.) - 1.4 miles more: turn LEFT on Skein Lake Road. It is gravel and it is private; the sign says so. Go slowly. There are nine places on it. - 0.8 mile: we are the FOURTH drive, on the left, the lake side. Fire number 8815, a green sign with white numbers on a post. If you come to a steel gate across a drive, that is the Gustafsons at 8831 and you have gone one too far. The cabin cannot be seen from the road. The drive goes down through the pines about 300 feet. Park on the gravel by the pump house, not on the grass to the right, which is the septic mound. Delivery trucks: there is room to turn round at the bottom. A semi cannot make the corner at Tamarack Fork; they are to telephone and Ray will meet them at the highway. Telephones work at the highway and at the cabin and nowhere in between.

These were not scrubbed from other records on purpose; they are simply things written down once.
