The hearing aids went in yesterday. Each is the size of a lima bean.
In the parking lot he stopped with his hand on the truck door and said, "What is that?" It was the turn signal of the car beside us. At home it was the refrigerator, the furnace, the dog's toenails, and his own footsteps on the stairs, which he says are louder than he would have designed.
This morning he was standing in the yard with his coffee, not moving. I went out. He said, "Is that a chickadee?" It was. It was in the spruce next door, the two-note song, the spring one.
Medicare pays nothing toward them.
