What it says

R. drives to Wausau on Tuesdays now. Don is failing; it is in the pancreas, they have known since October, and the doctors have stopped proposing things. The two of them sit in Don's garage with the big door up and a heater between them, in their coats. A letter came this week from Danny Vue, who left Tamarack Hill in 2004 and who read every one of the Redwall books in fourth grade, in order, and argued with me about the mice. He is a children's librarian in Milwaukee. I have read the letter six times and put it in the box with the ones I wrote Mom. Twelve below this morning. Lake Wingra is solid, and from the path I counted forty ice shanties.
