What it says
Christmas Day. The service last night was on the screen, with Margit alone at the organ and the candles lit by the pastor one at a time down an empty aisle. We lit ours in the living room and sang the last hymn to the television, R. on the melody, which he never gets to have in church.
Jerry Amundson died on the 14th. He ushered with R. for twenty years. There will be a service when there can be one. That is two this year, with Bill Thronson, for whom R. has not been able to stand up in a suit.
We walked the dog along the shore path at Lake Wingra at four o'clock, with the sun going, and met no one.
