Lorraine has given me "The Library Book," about the fire at the Los Angeles public library in 1986. I read it in two days and telephoned her about every chapter.
The cast is off and a brace is on, and twice a week a young woman named Priya has me squeeze yellow putty until I could weep. The scar runs down the inside of the wrist, four inches, very neat.
The thyroid pill has gone up as well, on account of something they found in the blood they drew for the surgery.
