We're here. It's 6am and I'm the only one awake, on Mama's veranda, and there is already a generator going somewhere and a rooster that has no idea what time it is.
She was waiting at the gate when the car pulled in last night. She took Eli's face in both hands, then Ivy's, and said something in Yoruba that Marcus wouldn't translate until later: "so you were real." She'd only seen them on a phone. Four years.
Nora and her cousin Simi looked at each other for about ten seconds and then disappeared. I haven't really seen Nora since.
