but. the man who came for Mr. Henry today. old lab, grey face, died in october. he'd sent me photos from all fifteen years and said pick whichever. I drew him at about eight, in the back of a truck, squinting. the man stood in my doorway holding it and didn't say anything for a long time and then said "that's the face he made at the lake." and then he couldn't talk, and I couldn't either, and Miso came and sat on his shoe.
