What it says
The camera: what the young man at Brightline set up for me yesterday and I must not undo.
- Mode dial on A. Start at f/8.
- ISO on automatic, allowed to go as high as 3200.
- Focus on AF-C, with the small group of points in the middle.
- He moved the focusing to a button on the back, under my thumb, so that the shutter button only takes the picture.
- The switch on the side of the lens marked VR stays ON unless it is on a tripod.
- For a bird against the sky, turn the dial on the back two clicks toward the plus.
At 500 the lens wants a fast shutter; if the number is under 1/1000, raise something or brace against a tree.
Bag: gray, front hall closet. Two batteries; charge both before going north. Body and lens on one receipt, $2,789.31 with tax.
