What it says

Ray, Dr. Rasmusson, yesterday, about the right knee. I went. - The X-ray: bone on bone on the inside half of the joint. He showed us. Even I could see there is no gap left. - The two cortisone shots this year (March and late June) each lasted about five weeks. A third would do no better. - His words: "You can have this done when you are ready, and you will know when that is." Ray said he was ready. - A total knee replacement. Tuesday, November 8, Arbor Bluff Medical Center. One night in hospital, perhaps two. - Before then: Dr. Valdivia must clear him, because of the stent. Dr. Raghavan must see his sugar; they want the A1c under 8 for the wound to heal well, and his is 7.0. - A class for knee patients on October 18, both of us. - Stronger going in means faster coming out. Julia is writing him a set of exercises to do from now until November. After: a walker, then a cane. Therapy twice a week for about three months. No driving for six to eight weeks, and it is his right leg. So no Gulf Shores this winter. I will write to Dottie; and the cabin will be closed by me and Travis.
