2027: August 20 is fifty years. What is decided, and what has to be done by whom.
DECIDED
1. The week of August 14 to 21, 2027, at the cabin, all fourteen. No hall, no caterer, no speeches.
2. Then the two of us to Norway in September, about two weeks. Sogndal first, to Astrid and Knut. Then wherever Ray's bridge is.
3. No Ephraim that year.
4. Not to buy each other anything.
TO DO
- RAY'S PASSPORT. It runs out before the end of this year. It has to be renewed before anything is booked: form DS-82, by mail, the old passport, one photograph, one cheque. He knows. He has known since January. It is in the desk in the den, he says.
- Mine is good to 2032.
- Marianne Vogel, in January, for flights. September fares open about eleven months ahead.
- Write to Astrid at Christmas with the dates.
- Tell the three of them that their own cabin weeks in 2027 must go round August 14 to 21. Done in March.
- Beds for fourteen for a week in August: the bunkhouse makes it possible. The other two bunk quilts must exist by then.
- Ray wants to take everyone round the lake on the pontoon at once. The plate says ten. He is thinking about two trips.
