What it says

Three cabins on the lake were broken into last week, between Sunday and Wednesday: the Trost place and two on the north shore. A window forced at each, and what was taken was what could be carried: a chain saw, two outboards off their brackets, liquor, a television. Ours was not touched. Bev thinks it was because her kitchen light was on. A deputy named Kivi came round on Thursday. Her advice was cameras, a light on a timer, and to stop leaving the key where everyone on the road knows it is. R. is going to order four cameras. I do not like it. I have left that door unlocked for nineteen summers while I went to town.
