What it says
Lorraine's surgery was Tuesday. Five hours. Annette called me from the waiting room and again at six: they took out everything they could see, and the surgeon is "pleased." She was asleep when I went on Thursday.
The lutefisk dinner came back, as a line of cars: 340 dinners in boxes, handed through windows in the church lot by the confirmation class in masks. We rolled all the same, six griddles, with the kitchen windows open and our coats on.
