What it says
Home this afternoon. The house has a new roof on it, finished yesterday, in the color called Driftwood, and R. walked me round the outside to look at it before I was allowed to put my suitcase down.
Yesterday was forty-four years, the first one we have spent apart. I telephoned at seven, as I had said I would, and he answered before the first ring had finished.
He had flowers on the table, from Fenner's, still in the paper. He has lost four pounds.
