What it says

The porch is finished. Nate swept it out on Friday afternoon, handed R. the last of the screen spline "for when a grandchild puts an elbow through it," and drove away. We have eaten supper out there both nights since, and stayed until we could not see each other. The whole lake, and not one mosquito. Samir drew it so that the roof line carries on from the cabin's, and the posts are set so that from my chair none of them stands in front of the island. I asked him on the telephone whether that was luck. He said he had asked Kate where I sit. R. was at the association meeting yesterday morning as treasurer. He has also bought a television for the cabin, for rainy days.
