Easter, and Ellen's four at our table: the first people to eat a meal inside this house, other than the two of us, since Christmas of 2019. Fifteen months. I made too much.
Hannah is twelve and taller than I am. Owen will be ten next month, and hugged his grandfather very carefully, around the middle, as if R. had been in storage.
Church in person, too, every other pew, masks, no singing. Pastor Kristin said the Easter greeting and we answered it, and the sound of sixty people answering together undid me.
We are both past the second shot, and Ellen, who has been vaccinated since January, decided it was time.
