What it says
Carol telephoned at 5:20 this morning. Don died at ten past four, at home, in the bed in the living room, with Shirley and both of the children there. Five months from the day they found it.
R. took the call standing up in the kitchen in his pajamas. He said, "All right. All right, Carol." Then he fed the dog, tested his sugar, wrote the number on the calendar, and sat down at the table with his hands flat on it.
I have made coffee.
