What it says

Portland, the sixth day of seven. Theo is six weeks old, long, bald and very alert. Kate is tired. She does not want advice and I have given almost none; I have done laundry, made soup, and walked the baby around the block in the drizzle so that she could sleep. On Friday she came downstairs, found the kitchen clean and the baby asleep on my chest, and cried, and said it was hormones, and I said of course it was. Samir showed me the plans for a branch library he is working on and asked what I would change. I told him: lower shelves, and more of them along a window. I go home tomorrow.
