Our Saviour's, the wedding, and my veil caught on the pew again, but this time nobody played the recessional twice; they all simply waited. I turned round to free it. The church was full. Mom and Dad in the front, Lorraine three rows back with a program, Don on the aisle, Gus lying in the vestibule with his chin on his paws. And the grandchildren, all six, at the ages they are now, sitting among them as if that were usual.
R. was at the front, twenty-four, with the mustache, and he had the hearing aids in. He tapped his ear to show me that he could hear. I had the veil in my hand. I do not know whether I got it loose.
