What it says
I didn't sleep. I kept going in to watch him breathe.
It was a birthday cake. He was fine, and then his lips were the wrong shape, and then he threw up in the car and I drove to the ER with my hand reaching back between the seats so I could feel him.
He's okay. He was okay the whole time, the doctor said, his breathing never changed. But the doctor also said the next one might not go like this one, and to keep Benadryl in my bag until we see someone.
Dana texted at midnight that she'd read the bakery box and she's so sorry. It's not her fault. I didn't know either. That's the part I can't get past. I'm his mother and I didn't know.
