Supper with Carla last night. I didn't cancel and the phone stayed in my pocket till nine. I stepped out for the call. When I came back she'd ordered me a coffee and she said, "How many?" and I said eighteen, and she said, "Good." She asked later where this is going, her and me. I said I don't know what I've got to offer till this is over, and I don't like saying "till this is over" because of what it means. She said she wasn't asking for a date. She said she was asking if I wanted her around. I said yes.
