What it says
Mom's 80th was yesterday at the church. Sixty people. She wore the blue dress and held court. She knew every one of them and whose grandchild was whose.
Russ and Tammy came. First time he's been in that house since the funeral. He went in the den and stood where the hospital bed was.
He and I ended up on the carport after, like always. He said she seems great. I said she's great for two hours with a room full of people she's known for fifty years. I told him about the pill box, the insulin call, the stove. He said, "You should have told me." I've told him every Sunday for two years. He hears "Mom's fine" because that's what she tells him right after I hand her the phone.
He asked what he can do. I didn't have an answer ready.
