What it says

zine fair. 986 dollars. the new zine, 41 Steps, sold all 44 copies by three o'clock. I didn't tell anyone what it was about. it's eight pages about counting things: steps, screws, persimmons, radiators. a man read it at the table and put it down and picked it up again and bought two. I thought I'd feel like I was selling him. I didn't. it felt like the lunch after the funeral, the people coming up to say what he'd fixed. also. a ceramicist two tables down, June. she traded me a cup for a zine at eleven and came back at two and bought another one. she has clay under her nails and a laugh that comes out before she's decided to. the cup has a bird on it that she says is "heron-adjacent." we're getting coffee thursday.
