What it says
the Surly is gone. yesterday morning I went down the back stairs and there was the U-lock, still locked, lying on the landing, and a clean cut through the railing it had been locked to. they brought a saw. for a ten-year-old steel bike with a milk-jug mudflap.
I built that bike. every bearing. I rode it to work for three winters. it had the dynamo light I saved two months for.
I was so angry I couldn't see properly and then I just felt stupid, because the lease says no bikes in the stairwell and I knew that and the bike room was full and I told myself the railing was fine.
filed the police report, filed the claim. Walt said take the green loaner from the back as long as I need. Lu said she's going to find it and I believe she'll try.
I keep going to the window to check on it.
