What it says
Maren came by this afternoon to say goodbye before Portland. I'd been dreading it all week and it was fine. it was more than fine, it was kind.
she looks happy. she got her hair cut short. she handed me the dutch oven at the door like a baby.
the hard part was Miso. she walked straight to Maren and got in her lap and stayed there forty minutes, purring, and Maren put her face in her fur and I went and washed dishes that were already clean.
at the door she said "I'm glad it was you, for those years." I said me too. I meant it.
made dal in the dutch oven tonight. it's a good pot.
