What it says

the book exists and I'm turning the pages but they turn themselves a little early, before I've finished looking. every spread is the lake and every spread the ice is further out. I get to the end and there's a thirty-third page, which there can't be, and on it is a list of dates in my handwriting that go past this year, a long way past, and next to one of them I've written a single word and I wake up before I can read it.
