What it says
What we eat now: the list on the inside of the pantry door, as revised by the dietitian at cardiac rehab.
- Fish twice a week. Walleye baked or pan-fried in a tablespoon of oil, not deep-fried.
- Salt: under 2,000 mg a day. Canned soup is out; I make it and freeze it in pints.
- Bread: Sigrid's, the whole wheat version, one slice.
- Oatmeal, an egg, coffee.
- Butter: on lefse and on nothing else.
- Cheese: one ounce, weighed.
- No summer sausage, no brats except Packers home games (one).
- Nuts, a small handful. Fruit, yes. Kringle, a slice the width of two fingers, on Christmas morning.
- Beer: one, Friday and Saturday.
