What it says
Gulf Shores. Everyone here is still talking about the snow: half a foot of it on the beach on January 21.
Ruthie Lachance came back, by herself, to the same unit. She played cards on Thursday, and when the deal came round to where Gerard used to sit, Norm dealt a hand to the empty chair without thinking, and then everyone looked at the cards lying there. Ruthie picked them up and played them. She won.
R. walks to the pier and I photograph the skimmers, which fly with the lower bill cutting the water like a seam ripper. He stops twice on the way now.
