Furnace: the new one went in yesterday, November 12. Fitch & Rowe. A 96 per cent two-stage gas furnace, with a new thermostat and a liner in the chimney for the water heater. $5,980.00, paid by cheque.

Per the installer:
- FILTER: 16 x 25 x 4. The four-inch kind, not the one-inch kind the old furnace took. Change twice a year, April and October.
- The arrow on the filter points TOWARD the furnace.
- The white plastic pipes on the north wall are its intake and exhaust. Keep the snow off them.

Warranty: ten years on parts, to November 2025; twenty on the heat exchanger. Labor is the first year only.
