Question

Where are the Christmas ornaments? They aren't in the basement any more.
A good answer

In the garage since the basement flood (the note is dated January 22, 2023) - four tubs with red lids, numbered 1 to 4, on the high shelf along the back wall, left of the rafters where the winter tires go. Her mother's glass ornaments and the Norwegian straw ones are not there; they are in the cedar chest in the upstairs hall. The tree stand is in the garage rafters and the creche in the dining room buffet, bottom left. The Christmas 2025 list says the same in one line.

Where things are NOW, after the basement flood. Nothing that matters goes back on a basement floor or a bottom shelf.

CHRISTMAS
- The ornaments: four tubs with red lids, numbered 1 to 4 on the ends, on the high shelf along the back wall of the GARAGE, to the left of the rafters where the winter tires go. Tub 1 is the tree lights and the star. Tubs 2 and 3 are ornaments. Tub 4 is the children's school-made ones and the stockings.
- Mom's glass ornaments and the Norwegian straw ones: NOT in the garage. In the cedar chest in the upstairs hall, wrapped in tea towels, in the egg cartons.
- The crèche: dining room buffet, bottom left.
- The tree stand: garage rafters, beside the tires.
- The Advent wreath and the candles: front hall closet, top shelf.

THE CHILDREN'S SCHOOL PAPERS (three boxes, one each): dried, repacked in plastic, in the closet of Ellen's old room.

RAY'S NATIONAL GEOGRAPHICS, 1968 to 1998: on a pallet in the basement, shrink-wrapped by Ray.

PAINT: the paint shelf was high enough and stayed dry.

THE CANNING JARS: washed, back on the basement shelves, upper two only.

Lost: two boxes of my old lesson plans, and the carton the Bernina came in.

only_in_note Facts that are still only in one everyday note after the second pass: the Gustafsons' gate code, the shed padlock, where the Christmas ornaments are, the dog's food and amount, Ray's sizes, the ice-out log from 2004, the main water shutoff, the septic alarm light, Hannah's dorm room, the way to the cabin, the lefse proportions, each lot's share of the plowing, and the size of the lake bedroom's screen. These were not scrubbed from other records on purpose; they are simply things written down once.
