What it says
Got the Buick's mirror fixed yesterday. Second thing she's hit this year.
Dad bought that car for her. He drove it home and handed her the keys in the carport and said it's got heated seats, Lorraine. She's had it twelve years and it has fifty-six thousand miles on it and it's the last thing she does by herself.
I can take the keys. I've got the paper that says I can do about anything. I haven't, because the day I do I'm not her son anymore, I'm the man who took her car. She'll forget most things. She won't forget that.
Her license runs out this fall. I'm letting the calendar do it. Somebody could get hurt between now and then and I know that too.
