am I set to fly to Japan in April

JAPAN, april 2027. Obaachan turns 88 on april 12 and is taking some of Jiichan's ashes to Yuasa.
who: Obaachan, mom, dad, Hana, me. Kenta (the cousin) is meeting us in Wakayama
dates (mom's draft): leave SFO sat 4/3, home wed 4/14. Osaka 2 nights, Yuasa 5, Kyoto 3
my costs:
- flight MSP -> SFO -> KIX: ~1,350 round trip if I book by november
- rail + food + my share of rooms: ~900
- mom + dad are paying for Obaachan. I'm paying my own flight
= 2,250. saving 250/mo from july. the final art payment in november covers the rest
need:
- PASSPORT. mine is from 2016, the summer before school. 10 years. so it expires... 2026. this year. CHECK THE DATE
- time off: Walt already said yes, april's early enough in the season
- Annika for Miso, 12 days, ask early + pay her
- final proofs for the book are in january so that's clear

it expired JUNE 13. a month ago.
renewal by mail (I qualify: I was over 16 when it was issued and it's less than 15 yrs old):
- form DS-82, print single sided, sign
- the old passport goes in the envelope (they send it back, separately)
- one photo, 2x2, no glasses. the drugstore does it for 17
- check for 130
- no birth certificate needed for a renewal
- 6 to 8 weeks routine. mail it trackable
do it in august when the second book payment is in.
